Nancy Broadhurst to Receive Leaders In Philanthropy Award

    By Elizabeth Miller | Chamber Announcements, Member News, Non-Profit | Comments are Closed | 29 July, 2019 | 0

Nancy Broadhurst is the recipient of the 2019 Leaders in Philanthropy Awards for Acadia Parish. She will be honored during a luncheon on Thursday, November 7 at 11:30 a.m. at the Cajundome Convention Center in Lafayette. Seats are $75 each and $500 for a table. Reservations can be made online at www.cfacadiana.org/lip.

Leaders In Philanthropy Awards, an event of Community Foundation of Acadiana, honors individuals, couples, and businesses who make a significant impact in their community by supporting nonprofit organizations, churches, and schools.

Broadhurst serves as chief executive officer of Lafayette General Foundation, where she leads the organization to steward philanthropic support to advance the mission of Lafayette General Health – To Restore, Maintain and Improve Health.

She is a highly motivated fundraising leader who thrives on working to make an impact in her community.

Over the years, her volunteer efforts, financial support, fundraising abilities, board leadership, and dedication toward helping for the public good, is recognized through the many initiatives.

Upon moving back from New Orleans in 2005 to her hometown of Crowley, she joined and was elected to serve as president of the Crowley Garden Club. Under her leadership, she started a program to raise thousands of dollars for the enhancement and beautification of downtown Crowley.

Broadhurst served as board vice-president of the Grand Opera House of the South and successfully co-chaired a $1M capital campaign for the renovation and revitalization of her church fellowship hall at First United Methodist of Crowley.

She participated in her community “Dancing with the Stars” fundraiser. She and her dance partner earned the mirror ball trophy after securing thousands of dollars to benefit the Rotary Club of Crowley and the Welcome House Homeless Shelter.

She is passionate about the prosperity of her community and began volunteering to help secure funding for the construction of a new $4M emergency department at Acadia General Hospital.  She later spearheaded efforts to raise resources for new IV pumps and heart monitors for the hospital.

Community service and philanthropy is something she believes is her purpose in life and is a passion of Nancy’s. She said she hopes to continue to live every day for years to come to inspire others to recognize the value and significance in giving back to the community.

She is the widow of William “Bill” Broadhurst whom she posthumously shares this award for his constant love and support of her philanthropic efforts.

Community Foundation of Acadiana is a tax-exempt, donor-centric, entrepreneurial foundation whose core purpose is building legacies and improving communities by connecting generous people to the causes they care about. CFA is south Louisiana’s premier philanthropic organization benefiting our region, with a particular focus on the parishes of Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Mary, St. Martin and Vermilion.
