The Acadia Parish Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development is proud to announce Gerard and Dana Frey as the recipients of the 2025 Humanitarian of the Year Award. This distinguished recognition will be presented at the Chamber’s Annual Banquet on Thursday, May 8th.
Gerard and Dana Frey are well-known throughout the region as generous, genuine leaders who consistently pour back into their community. As owners of D&G Frey Farms, Gerard Frey Farms, Frey Rentals, and a wide range of other business ventures, the Freys have built a legacy not only of entrepreneurship but of servant leadership.
“The Freys embody what it means to be quietly impactful,” said Elizabeth Miller, President and CEO of the Acadia Parish Chamber. “They give in ways that don’t seek praise—but absolutely deserve it.”
The couple’s commitment to Acadia Parish is evident not only in their businesses, but in their countless acts of service—many of which take place behind the scenes. Their compassion, humility, and unwavering support of others make them a natural choice for this year’s honor.
Many in the community may know the Freys for their annual Santa on the Pond Christmas event or their fundraising concert at the Grand Opera House of the South feature the Crochet Family. These are two of the many ways in which the Freys lend their time, talent, and treasure to Acadia Parish.
“Gerard and Dana are the kind of people who show up without being asked, give without expecting recognition, and invest in the wellbeing of our region simply because it’s the right thing to do,” added Miller. “We are thrilled to celebrate them and shine a light on their remarkable impact.”
The Annual Banquet, one of the Chamber’s signature events, celebrates the accomplishments of individuals and organizations across the parish. The 2025 event will mark a special milestone as the Chamber celebrates its 40th anniversary.
