Along with the businesses that it represents, the Crowley Main Street Program has struggled with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. One of their events, the Rice City Classic Car and Antique Tractor Show, had to be cancelled in
April. “And Witchy Way, that probably won’t happen because of the scale of the event,” Main Street board member Claire Doré recently told the Crowley Lions Club.
What residents can look forward to though is this weekend, September 26 will begin “Sidewalk Saturdays.” Merchants will hold special promotions along Crowley’s main thoroughfare throughout the day for this event. This weekend will also mark the opening event “Stories in the Courtyard,” which will be an open-air story time for children. Doré will be reading stories to children at The Courtyard on North Parkerson Avenue at 10 AM. Adults will be present along with Doré so parents can let their kids listen to the stories while they shop along the avenue.
Around eleven downtown businesses will be participating for the day’s event. Some businesses include: Adams Apple, Frosto, Poise and Personality, and The Vanilla Bean. For a full list of participating businesses, check out Crowley Main Street’s Facebook page!
