    Roberts Cove Germanfest | October 5 & 6

    By Elizabeth Miller | Events, Member News, News, Non-Profit | Comments are Closed | 1 October, 2019 | 1

German immigrants founded the Roberts Cove community (about 20 minutes west of Lafayette, LA) in 1880. Their descendants started the Germanfest in 1995. The small community nestled in the heart of the Acadiana is where we celebrate our rich German heritage in Acadia Parish during the annual festival held during the first weekend of October. German roots or not, all are welcome at this two-day, family-friendly festival.

Live entertainment, a large selection of German beers on tap, folklore demonstrations and children’s activities are just a few of the attractions scheduled for this year’s festival. Foods like home-cooked sauerkraut, potato salad and bratwurst make the festival worth the drive. Though desserts aren’t the meat and potatoes of German cooking, you have to try the apfel kuchen (apple cobbler) or zucker plätzchen (sugar cookies)—24,000 sugar cookies are baked for the festival.

The clean, family friendly environment makes the Roberts Cove Germanfest a great place to visit. Young or old, this festival will leave you with unforgettable memories!
