“What is unique about SLCC’s program is that this is a classroom instructor-led course with commissioned notaries and attorneys. Since students often have questions about the complex legal issues that are covered on the Louisiana Notary Public exam, we want to give them the tools to pass the exam the first time since the state only administers the exam twice a year,” said Nancy Roy, Outreach and Engagement Coordinator for SLCC’s Corporate College.
During the course, students will learn the skills necessary to pass the Louisiana Statewide Notary Exam. This course covers the unique system of law and courts in Louisiana, as well as drafting donations, acts of sale, contracts, conveyances of real property, testaments, small successions, and business entities.
The courses is $499 plus the student must purchase the 2019 study guide from the Secretary of State’s office, “Fundamentals of Notarial Law and Practice,” for $100. Students can register for classes or call 521-9028.
Commissioned Louisiana Notary Publics can prepare acts of sale, wills, trusts, real estate transfers, matrimonial agreements, acts of adoptions, and other instruments in writing.
South Louisiana Community College created the Corporate College in 2015 to offer continuing education courses, leisure learning programs, and customized training for businesses across 10 campuses. Short-term training programs are available to prepare community members to meet the demands of area businesses.
