The 2025 Leadership EXCEL class embarked on its second session with an engaging and transformative experience—SIMSOC with Leadership on the Move. In partnership with the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class, this immersive program provided participants with a dynamic, hands-on learning environment that tested their leadership skills in real-time scenarios.
SIMSOC is a well-known simulation exercise designed to replicate the complexities of societal structures, decision-making, and leadership under pressure. This interactive session pushed leaders to think critically, collaborate effectively, and adapt to changing circumstances. By engaging in real-time problem-solving and experiencing the consequences of leadership choices, participants gained invaluable insights into the responsibilities and challenges of guiding communities toward progress.
This year’s collaboration with the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class added another layer of depth to the experience. Bringing together leaders from different regions fostered networking opportunities, the exchange of diverse perspectives, and a shared commitment to driving economic and community development across parish lines.
“SIMSOC really challenges the class to think beyond individual successes and focus on the bigger picture of community leadership,” said Elizabeth Miller, President/CEO of the Acadia Parish Chamber of Commerce & Economic Development. “It opens their eyes to see how small decisions can have ripple effects on an entire society.”
As the Leadership EXCEL program continues, participants will build upon these experiences to refine their leadership approaches and apply their newfound skills to real-world community and economic development initiatives. The second session of SIMSOC was more than just an exercise—it was a stepping stone toward stronger, more capable leaders for Acadia and Jeff Davis Parishes and beyond.
Stay tuned for more updates as the 2025 Leadership EXCEL class continues its journey of growth, collaboration, and impact!
