Kathryn Shea Joins Chamber of Commerce Team

    By Elizabeth Miller | Chamber Announcements | Comments are Closed | 30 May, 2018 | 2

Kathryn Shea Duncan is a proud, life-long resident of Crowley, Louisiana. She attended St. Michael Elementary School and then graduated from Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish in 2014. After high school, she received a full academic scholarship to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Marketing this May.

During her time in college, Kathryn Shea was very involved in campus and community life. She was a founding member of the UL Lafayette Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter and later served as Fundraising Chairperson and President. Her accomplishments were recognized on local, state, and national levels when she was awarded the Louisiana and President’s Volunteer Service awards presented to her on behalf of Lt. Governor Nungesser and President Donald Trump, and the Dean of Community Service Excellence in Service Award. On top of being an advocate for poverty housing, she volunteers at Healing House; Hope for Grieving Children bi-weekly.

Since 2014, Kathryn Shea has been representing our city and parish by being crowned Miss Acadia Parish and Miss Crowley. Currently, she holds the title of the 81st International Rice Festival Queen. As queen, she traveled to Washington DC for the Mystick Krewe of Louisianian’s Ball, San Antonio for the USA Rice Outlook Conference, and will travel in June to the Greenbrier in West Virginia for the USA Rice Millers’ Association Annual Convention. In her free time, she is an avid portrait and commercial photographer. Her work has been published locally and internationally with organizations such as TABASCO(R), Dianna Rae Jewelry, and Puddles and Lace. Kathryn Shea has dreamed of coming back to her hometown to pursue a career and start a family.
