The Acadia Parish Chamber of Commerce & Economic Development is proud to announce Poise & Personality, owned and operated by local entrepreneur Shontize Brown, as the recipient of the 2025 Small Business of the Year award. This recognition honors a small business that demonstrates growth, community involvement, and a positive impact on the local economy and culture.
Poise & Personality has become a fixture in Acadia Parish and beyond, known for Shontize’s unmatched dedication to mentoring young women as they prepare for pageants and public roles. Her work goes far beyond fashion—she teaches etiquette, builds confidence, and instills in each girl a deep understanding of what it means to represent themselves and their titles with pride. Her personal support and encouragement can often be seen firsthand, as she regularly attends events to cheer them on.
“Shontize’s passion for empowering young women is contagious,” said Elizabeth Miller, President and CEO of the Acadia Parish Chamber of Commerce. “Her hands-on dedication, her presence at pageants and events, and the personal attention she gives to each of her clients exemplifies what it means to serve from the heart. She’s not just dressing them—she’s investing in their futures.”
In recent years, Shontize has expanded her footprint by launching a second business, 4Twenty4 Menswear, offering stylish fashion options for men and further reinforcing her commitment to keeping shopping local. Her entrepreneurial drive, creative vision, and pursuit of excellence have positioned her as a leader in Acadia Parish’s business community.
In addition to her business endeavors, Shontize remains an active and engaged member of Crowley Main Street, contributing to downtown revitalization efforts, participating in events, and supporting initiatives that celebrate the heart of the community.
“Recognizing Shontize and Poise & Personality is more than a celebration of business success—it’s a celebration of impact,” added Miller. “She is an example of what it means to lead with purpose and creativity.”
Shontize will be honored at the upcoming Acadia Parish Honors event on Thursday, May 8, where she will be recognized alongside fellow local leaders and changemakers.
The Acadia Parish Honors is open to the public. Tickets are $50, which includes dinner & drinks, and may be purchased online at AcadiaParishChamber.org or by calling 337-788-0177.
