The Acadia Parish Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development recently held its 2024 board retreat and strategic planning session as we gear up for the year ahead. The retreat was filled with valuable insights, strategic discussions, and team-building activities, setting a strong foundation for future success.
The day started with an informational and encouraging state of the organization delivered by President and CEO, Elizabeth Miller, and incoming Board Chairman, Willie Bergeron. Their presentation highlighted the progress made over the past year and the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead, providing a clear picture of the parish’s current status and future potential.
Then, the session transitioned into a strategic planning workshop led by Emergent Method. This session was crucial in laying out the Chamber’s strategic direction for the upcoming year. With expert guidance, our board members dove into various aspects of planning and development, ensuring that every voice was heard and every idea was considered. Our multi-year commitment to working with Emergent Method provides us with several years of data, metrics, and goals to ensure continued success.
One of the key components of the retreat was breaking down the results of an internal survey designed to gauge perception, performance, strengths, and weaknesses within the organization. This analysis provided a comprehensive understanding of where the Chamber stands and what areas need attention, allowing for a more targeted and effective strategic plan.
Engaging in several interactive exercises, our board members collaboratively envisioned the goals and initiatives for the 2024-2025 year. These exercises were instrumental in fostering a unified vision and aligning the team on common objectives, setting the stage for a productive and impactful year.
The retreat also focused on setting clear goals, tasks, and metrics for the upcoming year. This structured approach ensures that the Chamber’s efforts are directed towards measurable outcomes, facilitating continuous improvement and accountability.
In addition to the strategic planning activities, the retreat hosted the first board meeting of the year. During this meeting, the executive committee was elected, and committee appointments were made, ensuring that the Chamber’s leadership is well-equipped to drive the organization forward.
The day concluded with some well-deserved relaxation and team bonding through a little golfing, allowing board members to unwind and celebrate a day of hard work!
