APCCED Celebrates 70 Years for Crowley Town Club!

The Acadia Parish Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development celebrated the Crowley Town Club and its 70th Anniversary with a Cocktail Hour Ribbon Cutting on Thursday, August 22nd! This milestone event honored the club’s long standing legacy as a cherished institution in the Crowley community.

Founded in 1954, the Crowley Town Club has been a cornerstone of Crowley, offering a welcoming space for socializing, networking, and building lifelong friendships. Founding members include notable citizens of Acadia Parish including Jerry Ashley, WJ Cleveland, former Governor Edwin Edwards, Clyde Hodges, Paul Green, Lawrence Brown, and CE Adams. Over the past seven decades, the club has hosted countless events and gatherings – none as incredible as their annual Krewe of Town Revelers Mardi Gras Ball, which celebrated its 68th year in 2024.

Originally established as a fundraiser for the Town Club, the Krewe of Town Revelers honors King & Queen CIMMER along with their Royal Court each year with a formal ball and a full scale production along with other ancillary events throughout the year. Guests enjoy singing, dancing and pageantry as the Krewe introduces its court before dancing the night away! CIMMER was originally established as the proprietor of the Crowley Town Club and the acronym stands for Crowley, Iota, Mermentau, Morse, Estherwood and Rayne, paying homage to the cities, towns, and villages that make up Southern Acadia Parish. The three organizations all work together to create the magic surrounding the Crowley Town Club and the Krewe of Town Revelers.

The club’s atmosphere and commitment to fostering camaraderie have made it a special place for its members. As a private, membership-based club, it offers several avenues for involvement, including the Ladies Auxiliary and the Krewe of Town Revelers. The club also hosts various family-friendly events throughout the year, ensuring that there is something for everyone. The approximately 170 members of the Crowley Town Club enjoy not only the social benefits but also the sense of belonging that comes with being part of a longstanding tradition. The club is more than just a venue—it’s a home for those seeking to connect with others.

The celebration was well attended and included members, friends, community leaders, and friends. Crowley Town Club leadership as well as Mayor Chad Monceaux addressed the packed crowd. Club history was shared along with exciting plans and visions for the future of this storied organization.
