The 2024 Acadia Parish Honors Annual Banquet & Awards Ceremony is slated for Thursday, May 9th at the Grand Opera House of the South. This event wraps up the Acadia Parish Chamber’s year while honoring Business Person of the Year, Humanitarian of the Year, Legend in Leadership, and Outstanding Young Citizens from each of the seven Acadia Parish high schools. These distinguished scholars are not only brilliant in intellect but are also dedicated to each of their communities through volunteer work and civic activities.
Collin Paul Boudreaux is a senior at Church Point High School. He is the son of Haley and Jean Paul Boudreaux. Collin has spent his time at Church Point High School as a class officer, member of the Art, Spanish, and Beta Clubs and a member of the Yearbook Staff. Collin was nominated for both Student of the Year and Prom King in his senior year. He is actively engaged in his school as a speaker during the Black History Program and a volunteer for the alumni reception. Outside of school, Collin enjoys tutoring other students. Upon graduation, he plans on attending either the University of New Orleans or Southeastern to study education and pursue his dream of becoming a secondary English teacher.
Da’Quaylin Deshawn Monroe is a senior at Crowley High School. He is the son of Brezeter Monroe. He has been honored on the Principal’s List and as the Student of the Year. In his time at Crowley High School, he has been a dedicated member of the percussion section of the Crowley High School Marching Band. In his spare time, Da’Quaylin enjoys bible study sessions at church, performing with the dance team at church, and volunteering his drumming talents for the congregation’s band. Upon graduation, Da’Quaylin will attend Grambling State University where he will play in the The World Famed Grambling State University Tiger Marching Band on a scholarship and study criminal justice in hopes of becoming a forensic scientist.
Brinna Kate Hebert is a senior at Iota High School. She is the daughter of Michelle Hebert. In her time at Iota High School, Brinna has earned varsity letters and academic all-state honors in Bulldog athletics including basketball, volleyball, and track. In her senior year, she has served as a captain for both the volleyball and basketball teams. Brinna is also the 2024 Iota High School Student of the Year. Her involvement includes class leadership, FBLA, FCCLA, IHS Honors Program, FCA, Beta, Student Council, Renaissance Club, and Drama Club. She is a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota. Upon graduation, she plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to major in biology and focus on allied health and medical sciences in hopes of attending medical school after her undergraduate education.
Ava Jade Kibodeaux is a senior at Midland High School. She is the daughter of Sharisa and Coty Kibodeaux. In her time at Midland High School, Ava has been involved in and served in leadership roles of student council, Beta, 4-H, FCCLA, Band, the gifted program, French Club, and Drama Club. In addition to obtaining her diploma, Ava has been dual enrolled through LSU Eunice and will also graduate with an associate’s degree this spring. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering her time and talent for singing opportunities throughout the community. Ava will attend McNeese State University to obtain her Bachelor of Science in nursing and her Masters of Science in Nursing.
Seioriana Faith Guidry is a senior at Northside Christian School. She is the daughter of Ianeta and Brandon Guidry. In her time at Northside Christian, she has been involved in Beta, student council, and 4-H. Additionally she has played volleyball, basketball, softball, and been a member of the cheerleading squad. Seioriana is a member of Parkerson Avenue Baptist Church. Upon graduation, she plans to attend college to get a degree in secondary education.
Zack Michael Hebert is a senior at Notre Dame High School. He is the son of Stephanie and Andy Hebert. During his time at Notre Dame, Zack has been involved in Beta, Quiz Bowl, the Literary Rally team, student council, FFA, and Drama Club. He has also been a member of the football, baseball, tennis, and bowling teams including serving as the football team’s manager and videographer for several years. In September of 2023, he also earned the honor of Eagle Scout. Outside of school, Zack is incredibly involved in his church, St. Michael the Archangel in Crowley, and in the Catholic formation of youth throughout Acadiana. He has been an altar server, lector, eucharistic minister, and a leader in retreats for fellow students. Additionally, he has spoken on numerous occasions about the importance of supporting faith based initiatives. Upon graduation, Zack plans to discern the Catholic priesthood at Seminary College.
Ella Rose Meche is a senior at Rayne High School. She is the daughter of Claire Wilkinson and Jedediah Meche. In her time at Rayne High School, she has been involved in Beta Club, Library Club, Drama Club, Interact Club, the Rayne Alive News Program, and the Rayne High Cheerleading team. She has been the lead role in several school plays and was also named the Rayne High Student of the Year and Acadia Parish Student of the Year in 2023. She is a member of First Baptist Church of Rayne. Her community involvement includes Rayne Lions Club, City of Rayne volunteer, Louisiana Sudden Impact Program, and a volunteer for numerous community outreach and fundraising events. Upon graduation, Ella plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and study secondary English education and theater with dreams of becoming an educator and leading a high school literature and theater program.
