Acadia Parish Adds Second Certified Site

    By Elizabeth Miller | Economic Development | Comments are Closed | 1 May, 2018 | 0

CROWLEY — OneAcadia with One Acadiana and SLEMCO, announced a 17.72-acre site along the new Rice Capital Parkway Service Road in Crowley has been certified under the Louisiana Economic Development (LED) Certified Business Sites program.

Working with partners across the region, One Acadiana’s site development efforts respond to the needs of site selectors and relocating businesses. Having a landing pad for businesses is a crucial ingredient to attracting jobs and investment to the Acadiana Region.

The Bratton Family Farm site is Acadiana’s second business site and is the first of its kind in Acadia Parish. As a certified business site, it meets the state’s priority to certify smaller areas of land in addition to large tracts of land, known as Industrial Sites. This site brings Acadiana’s certified site total to nine.

“The Bratton family has been most generous and enthusiastic to participate in the economic progress of our community,” said Laurie Suire, President & CEO of OneAcadia. “To be able to offer this certified site in a prime location in our portfolio of opportunities to businesses is a great economic asset for Acadia Parish.”

“With this certified Business Site, the Acadiana Region has more than 1,500 acres of shovel-ready land in our portfolio for site selection decision makers to choose from,” said Troy Wayman, President & CEO of One Acadiana. “One Acadiana’s continued focus on site certification ensures that we’re competitive when marketing South Louisiana as a great place for businesses to start, relocate, or expand.”

LED’s Certified Business Sites program qualifies business sites that are between 10 and 25 acres. The development-ready site is suitable for a business park, mixed-use development, or planned unit development.

To reduce the risk and time frame associated with making business location decisions, sites undergo a rigorous review process by Louisiana Economic Development and an independent, third-party engineering firm. Specific site details, such as zoning restrictions, title work, environmental studies, soil analysis and surveys, are assessed for compliance and authenticity.

North of Interstate 10, the site is part of the Bratton Family Farms property currently being marketed for commercial development.

“SLEMCO is extremely pleased to a partner in the certification of the Bratton property and its increased potential for business development and job growth for the City of Crowley and Acadia Parish,” said Jody Soileau, Economic Development Specialist for SLEMCO.

OneAcadia and 1A worked together closely to secure the certification of this site. One Acadiana’s Site Development program is designed to increase the region’s portfolio of marketable, development-ready sites by certifying land within the nine-parish region. This is achieved through partnership between One Acadiana, local economic development partners, Louisiana Economic Development (LED), and land owners.
