Acadia Parish, LA – The Acadia Parish Chamber of Commerce marks the week of May 9 to May 13, 2022, as the next Economic Development Week. During this week, communities across North America will celebrate and recognize the contributions made by professional economic developers to create more economically vibrant and livable communities.
Created in 2016 by International Economic Development Council (IEDC), the largest international professional trade association for economic developers, Economic Development Week aims to increase awareness for local programs that create jobs, advance career development opportunities, and improve the quality of life in communities everywhere.
“Economic developers play essential roles in promoting the economic health and vitality of their communities — a fact that has only been proven further by the events of the past two years,” says IEDC President & CEO Nathan Ohle. “The 2022 Economic Development Week will serve to recognize, honor and celebrate the ingenuity and leadership practitioners have shown in working to create a more equitable and prosperous future for everyone. I encourage everyone to begin planning their own celebrations that will lift up the important outcomes economic developers facilitate in their communities.”
The Acadia Parish Chamber of Commerce (APCC) is a business-led, privately-funded organization serving Acadia Parish with the vision to make the parish one of the most sought-after places in the South for businesses and talent. As both a Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Organization, APCC has assumed the role of the Acadia Parish representative in the regional organization, One Acadiana, and serves as a point of contact for Louisiana Economic Development (LED). The Chamber works with LED for access to state programs and initiatives to assist in recruiting new businesses and helping existing ones flourish. Through its affiliation with One Acadiana, the Chamber has access to regional, parish and city level statistical data and information that are often sought by businesses.
APCC is a point of contact and information for business recruitment, retention and expansion above and beyond its membership. RFP’s from LED for business recruitment are also fielded by the Chamber office. Over the past 2 years, APCC has added two Louisiana Certified Sites to their available properties portfolio. One site, 536 acres, and another 18 acre tract, both along Interstate-10, position the community ahead of the rest when prospects are seeking land.
