CROWLEY, La. – A Ribbon Cutting celebration held on Tuesday, October 15 celebrated a new partnership bringing together Acadia Extended Care Hospital to Acadia General Hospital. Formerly operated in Eunice as Eunice Extended Care Hospital, the hospital relocated to its current space on the second floor of the Crowley-based Acadia General Hospital. The hospital continues serving patients in Eunice, Crowley, and the surrounding area with no interruption in the timeliness or level of care provided – and with the same staff of highly trained healthcare professionals.
“We are excited about our new location and the opportunity it affords us to enhance the level of care that we provide,” said Chris Fox, LHC Group’s division president of facility-based services. “We want to assure the patients we serve and physicians we work with that our commitment to providing quality care has not changed. As always, the health and well-being of our patients remains our top priority.” Fox said the new service will bring 75 new healthcare jobs to Crowley with an estimated economic impact of about $6 million annually. “It will also impact Acadia General because we will be purchasing services from them as well,” he added.
Acadia General Hospital in Crowley is part of the Lafayette General Health (LGH) system. The new location and name are part of the continuing partnership between LGH and LHC Group and their shared mission to provide post-acute care services to patients in the Acadiana region.

Acadia Extended Care Hospital serves the needs of individuals with medically complex conditions who require intense, specialized treatment for an extended period of time, or who reside in areas where skilled medical care is not readily available.

The history of Acadia General Hospital dates back to 1901, when Crowley’s first hospital opened on First Street, a few blocks east of Parkerson Avenue. The hospital became official in 1912 when it was founded as Crowley Sanitarium, Inc.
