Guests will take a look back at the past year and get a sneak peek of what is to come for Acadia Parish’s business community. Current and outgoing Chamber Board Members and Chairman will also be recognized for their efforts.
In addition, we will award several individuals for their contributions to our community.
The Acadia Parish Outstanding Young Citizens have been chosen to represent our seven local high schools. They will each receive a $500 scholarship in addition to this honor.
Gabrielle Morvant is the 17-year-old daughter of Crissie Daugereaux and Jason Morvant of Church Point. She is a senior at Church Point High School, where she maintains a 4.0 GPA and received a 30 on the ACT. After graduation, Gabrielle will attend Loyola University in New Orleans, and major in Pre-Medicine with a minor in Sociology. Upon completing her undergraduate studies, she plans to continue her education to become an Obstetrician-Gynecologist.
Gabrielle is Church Point High’s Student Council President, Class President, Beta Club Vice President, and Varsity Cheerleading Co-Captian. She is also a three-time recipient of the Church Point High Outstanding Student Award, American Citizen Award, a three-time recipient of the Academic Excellence Award, Rookie of the Year, All-American Cheerleader, and the Church Point High School Student of the Year.
Madison Sittig is the 17-year-old daughter of Jude and Debbie Sittig of Iota. She is a senior at Iota High School, where she maintains a 3.87 GPA and received a 20 on the ACT. After graduation, Madison will attend McNeese State University in Lake Charles, and major in Agricultural Business with a minor in Early Childhood Development. Upon completing her undergraduate studies, she plans to pursue a career at the Louisiana Farm Bureau Association.
In June of 2018, Madison was elected Louisiana FFA’s State Treasurer. She is also a member of the Iota High Student Council, Iota FFA Chapter, Iota Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and exhibits livestock. She has been given the “A” average award all four years at Iota High School, and is the reigning 52nd Louisiana Swine Festival Queen.
Leah Colson is the 18-year-old daughter of Edna and Kevin Colson of Iota. She is a senior at Rayne High School, where she maintains a 3.9 GPA and received a 20 on the ACT. After graduation, Leah will attend Louisiana College in Pineville, and major in Elementary Education with a minor in Music. Upon completing her undergraduate studies, she plans to become a second grade teacher and children’s minister.
Leah is a member is Rayne High School Band of Pride Marching Band and Symphonic Band, Beta Club, National Honors Society, and Student Council. She has participated in Sudden Impact and Acadia Parish Honor Band, and is a worship leader and women’s ministry member at her Church.
Grace Elizabeth Bernard is the 18-year-old daughter of Mark and Kimberly Bernard of Rayne. She is a senior at Notre Dame High School, where she maintains a 3.87 GPA and received a 22 on the ACT. After graduation, Grace will attend Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, and major in Nursing. Upon completing her undergraduate studies, she plans to work in a hospital close to home to give back to the community that raised her.
Grace is Student Council Vice President; member of Beta Club, Speech & Drama, Campus Ministry, Varsity Volleyball Team, and Varsity Tennis Team. Her awards and honors include: 2018 LHSAA Louisiana All Star Volleyball team, All-District Volleyball first team, and All Academic Scholar Athlete. Grace is also a Church Lector, Eucharistic Minister, Notre Dame Choir Member, and a delegate at Louisiana Youth Seminar.
Erica Roy is the 18-year-old daughter of Cory and Trina Roy of Mermentau. She is a senior at Midland High School, where she maintains a 4.0 GPA and received a 24 on the ACT. After graduation, Erica will attend McNeese State University in Lake Charles, and major in Psychology with a minor in Family and Child Studies. Upon completing her undergraduate studies, she plans to become a social worker.
Erica is the Midland High Student Council Class Representative, Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Reporter, employed part-time at Crowley Primary Care and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and is a member of Midland Beta Club. Her awards and honors include: Girls State Citizen Award, National High School of Scholars Award, DAR Good Citizen, and the American Legion Scholarship.
Christina Brown is the 17-year-old daughter of Conrad and Jeanette Brown of Branch. She is a senior at Northside Christian School, where she maintains a 3.42 GPA and received a 19 on the ACT. After graduation, Christina will attend Louisiana State University in Eunice, and major in Nursing. Upon completing her undergraduate studies, she plans to continue her education to become a Nurse Practitioner.
Christina is Northside Christian’s Beta Club Treasurer, member of NCS Homecoming Court for two years, member of NCS Volleyball team, and has competed at District Literary Rally in Spanish II and Biology II. She sings in her Church’s choir; volunteers for Rise Against Hunger, various hurricane relief efforts, and Northside Volleyball Camp.
Donald Doucet, Jr. is the 18-year-old son of Donald and Melissa Doucet of Crowley. He is a senior at Crowley High School, where he maintains a 3.57 GPA and received a 22 on the ACT. After graduation, Donald will attend Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, and major in Agriculture. Upon completing his undergraduate studies, his ambitions are to begin a middle school FFA Chapter and Agriscience Class in Acadia Parish.
Donald is Crowley High FFA’s Chapter Sentinel, Interact Club President; member of Crowley High Track & Field, Student Council, and Dr. Amiot’s Flag-Raisers Club. He is also a volunteer for United Way Readers Program, Ag In the Classroom, and the Red Cross. Donald’s honors and awards include: FFA Outstanding Junior, 1st place District Literary Rally for Agriscience III, FFA Chapter Degree and Greenhand Degree.
