Kathryn Shea Duncan is a proud, life-long resident of Crowley, Louisiana. She attended St. Michael Elementary School and graduated from Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish in 2014. After high school, she received a full academic scholarship to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Marketing in May of 2018.
During her time in college, Kathryn Shea was very involved in campus and community life. She was a founding member of the UL Lafayette Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter and later served as Fundraising Chairperson and President. Her accomplishments were recognized on local, state, and national levels, when she was awarded the Louisiana Volunteer Service Award presented to her on behalf of Lt. Governor Nungesser, President’s Volunteer Service Award presented to her on behalf of President Donald Trump, and the Excellence in Service Award presented by UL Lafayette Dean of Community Service, David Yarbrough. On top of being an advocate for poverty housing, she volunteers at Healing House; Hope for Grieving Children bi-weekly for the Youngster II and Young Teen Groups.
Since 2014, Kathryn Shea has been representing our city and parish by being crowned Miss Acadia Parish and Miss Crowley. In October 2017, she was crowned the 81st International Rice Festival Queen. As queen, she traveled to Washington DC for the Mystick Krewe of Louisianian’s Ball, San Antonio for the USA Rice Outlook Conference, Greenbrier in West Virginia for the USA Rice Millers’ Association Annual Convention, Winnie for the Texas Rice Festival, and over 80 different events across the State of Louisiana.
Kathryn Shea volunteers yearly for the International Rice Festival and currently serves on the Advisory Board as the Social Media Chairman. She volunteers her photography and digital marketing experience to many organizations across Acadiana including Greetings From Levy Park, Healing House, Crowley Professional Women's Club, Acadia Parish Tourist Commission, Leadership EXCEL, Crowley Main Street, and the International Rice Festival. Kathryn Shea serves on the FAM Tour and Marketing committee for the Acadia Parish Tourist Commission, Marketing Committee for Crowley Main Street, Steering Committee for McClure Engineering Creative Placemaking initiative, an ambassador for Louisiana Bayou Krewe, and a member of Crowley Professional Women's Club and Louisiana Chamber of Commerce Executives.
In her free time, she is an avid portrait and commercial photographer. Her work has been published locally and internationally with organizations such as TABASCO(R), Dianna Rae Jewelry, Grammy-Award winner Wayne Toups, Acadiana Medicine Shop, and Puddles and Lace. Kathryn Shea enjoys reading books on professional development, listening to true crime podcasts, traveling to North Carolina to visit family, and spending time with her Godsons Rion and Maximus.
